1JZ - help! injectors not firing
|

here's the story -
i've just wired up a 1JZ into a GZ20, and gone to turn the key, and it cranks, but wont run.
it's got spark, so i know the CAS is good, and the fuel pump is pumping, but it wont fire.
so i've thrown a Noid-light onto the injectors, and basically what happens is this - number 1 doesn't even light up. all other injectors light up, but only once right at the start of cranking...like a prime or something.
the injectors have power from ignition, like the diagram says, and continuity from the injector plugs to the ECU.
PLEASE HELP!
cheers
steve

The CAS has 2 sets of pickups in it.
One that fires once per rev, and one that fires 24 times per rev.
Maybe the CSI is running off the first pickup?
But the ECU needs to see the 24 pulses to fire the injectors.
Make sure that ones is working.

Last step would be to test another ECU.

wouldn't the coilpacks use this one as well? there's spark at all 6 coilpacks, and not just on the initial revolution of the engine

Yeah, I realised that when I reread the initial post.
Are the coilpacks firing in the correct order?
Is every injector the correct impedance?
Have you had all the injectors cleaned?

the coilpacks are all firing in the correct order.
the injectors are stock, side feed yellow plugged injectors, so i figure they're right for impedence.
cleaning the injectors wont make any difference if there's no power getting to them to begin with

What I mean with testing the injectors, is make sure they are all good.
We had one of Nathans just die on us.
Also have you cleaned them? They could all be blocked.

cruz i dont think they are blocked because it drops one cycle of fuel into the cylinder and then wont send anymore...I am assuming that this one cycle is the cold start?

no, i haven't cleaned them. may do that later...
whether they're blocked or not is currently irrelevant. if they're not getting a pulse, they won't work anyway.
if it doesn't run when i get electricity at the injectors, then yes, i will clean them.
right now, i want to know why the noid-light doesn't keep lighting up...it should almost flash as the engine cranks...just like the coilpacks throw spark

I'd be looking into the ECU then.
Sounds like they are not being earthed.

so that ecu was not functioning properly? You just swapped another in and then it worked?
