Quick frontmount question Sun, 22 May 2005 07:33 Go to next message
as you all know im putting a frontmount on the gt4 atm ..

just a real quick question , who here have used rubber buffers between the core + the cooler mounts ? ATM seing im juts getting it all in place for piping ive just got it solid mounted - ie straight bolt up - no buffers ..

Are these wise to have for vibration control , even if its only a few mm thick between mount and core or will locktite on the threads + nicely secured bolts/nuts suffice ?

mine is solid mounted. any flex will be absorbed via the silicon joins, and I've had no rattles or clunks thus far

im purely guessing here but seeing my major joins are mostly in silicon anyway they should absorb the motor shake ...

im more concerned with the mounts rattling loose , hence the question on loctite - that Should aid in stopping it vibrating free ?

yeah, just use a little of the nut-tight stuff, medium strength. that way if you ever need to remove it all you'll need is a breaker bar.

Another option would be spring washers..

What if you need to remove the intercooler?get a the breaker bar like you said would be a bit of a pain imo..

nodsnods - sounds like a plan .. I think the top brakcets need a bit more gust to them - atm it bends a little but now the bottoms in the things quite solid
