Could be 02 sensor.

but why would the O2 sensor be doing that, that would mean that it is letting ini heaps of air for the petrol to burn, but im not getting extra power which should happen if the is extra combustion.

The O2 sensor allows the ECU to run in closed-loop mode at cruise, which keeps the fuel mixtures as lean as possible for maximum fuel economy. If the sensor is rooted the ECU will stay in open-loop mode and use heaps more fuel.

or you have a fuel leak sumwhere?
but yes my guess would be o2 sensor aswell
i had mine umm fall out on me and normally id get about 600k's out of a tank of petrol on highway cruising, and i culd only manage 310 km plus there was massive amounts of black shit all around my exhaust.
other things to check might be timing.

Strong petrol smell == fuel leak.

I don't think it'd be a leek, vegetables don't usually end up in petrol tanks.
That said, it might be a leak.

lol, do you think a slight leak would be responsible for 200km lost per tank, or do you think it is a mix of both the O2 sensor and the leak???

Petrol evapourates thus not leaving a puddle (unless there is enough).
If you think it may have a leak go get it checked out.

that smell could also be caused by the vented petrol cap....see if u can find where the smell is originating, if its around the cap and u cant see any visible signs of a leak then i would say there is no leak.
with regards to the question in general a service would be a wise course of action.
new plugs leads cap etc if necessary,
compression test the motor
do your timing
replace filters
check sensors with multimeter according to your manual
with those basics out of the way you will be in a much better position to determine if its a sensor or mechanical fault.
