Just wondering why people are so vehemently referred to the search function all the time. What is the point of discussion forums if discussion is not allowed or not accepted in some instances? So what, if the question has been asked previously. In the time taken typing to tell people to use the search function the answer to the question could well have been answered without the aggression.
Not singling you out at all Simon, so don't take offence to what I've said. I just can't get my head round the idea of a non-discussion discussion forum.
So,the old heads have seen the question a million times before, probably a question they themselves may have asked when they were new, big deal. Let people ask questions I reckon. If you know the answer then take the time to give it. If not, don't.
sorry if this sounds like a dull rant and it's probably in the wrong place but like I said, I can't fathom it.
With respect,
Greg.

Answer the same question 20 times and you'll start to fathom it.
I make frequent use of the search function, it answers most of my questions without having to bother anyone. What I can't fathom is why nearly everyone seems to have difficulty doing the same!

You just can't make ppl happy either way, you get shouted at for not using the search button, or you get shouted at for digging up an old thread.

You know it's quite possible to use the forums without doing either of those things...

or you could do both, ie search find an old thread post a link in a new one for reference and say well this thread says this but i need a little more info etc does anyone know the answer, cos atleast this way you are showing you hav etried. Second its a fairly basic question that can easily be rectified through search.

how will your findings be kept to yourself if everyone can use the search function and find it too? Unless noone else uses the search function in which case you might be right
The reason for the emphasis on the search function is the tech and conversions forum is ideally meant to be a Q&A page about all the types of problems and inquiries encountered by toymodders.
Not searching serves no purpose but to clutter up the forum with hundreds of threads about the same couple dozen common questions that are easy to find anyway.
No one is saying that you cant ask a question. The outstanding majority of people on here welcome questions and are quite willing to help, unless its clear the person asking hasnt gone to any effort to find the answers on their own accord.
End rant.
