Hi guys, this is my first post.
I am looking for a new or near new Camry Sportivo V6, perferably manual. The reason why I am looking to get one is that my first child is on the way, and i am looking for something that is nice and sensible yet i can have a bit of fun in. And i like the look of them, especially the black ones with the black badging. Is that a limited edition??
I havnt test driven one yet, but was wondering what the car is like in terms of handling and performance. Also any problems you guys have with the new camry. I currently drives a 94 saab 900 aero.
Thanks guys.

most of us wont be able to jusge this one mate - give it a test drive and see how it feels to you - then say - back it up with a test drive in an BA Xr6 falcon.
the BA is basically the benchmark for family sedan handling for " aussie " cars atm
Overall though - they seem like a pretty good machine , from the roadtests magazines view

handling pfft yes the BA have better ride but in terms of handling the commodores have the falcons licked to bits, have a look at track times and speed in the hills in reviews, the commodore although using older technology has far better mechanical grip and is generally a lot quicker when it comes to point to point dricing, let alone when your talking the new 3.6L V6 SV6 compared to XR6 vs Sportivo, the commodore is much more fuel efficient than the falcon and even pips the smaller engined camry on the freeway with testing seeing figures as low as 7.8L per 100km.
Than camry will have them both in reliability and general build quality no matter what ppl say about the BA i know first hand they are not what its cracked up to be.
My sis's boyfriend has one as a company car that has now done only 30k kms the front badge has fallen off as well as the sides strips, not major but come on can't they glue the thing together. It has a rather worrying noise coming from the front left suspesion, etc etc.
Commodore is 6 speed manual vs 5 speed in both camry and falcon. Camry will probably win in boot space for depth due to the fact it doesn't have a diff up back. But the falcon has the new struts instead of c hinges which means no crushed luggage in the boot.
My parents own a 2002 manual touring ie pre spotivo camry anyway been great for us although couple small things have gone wrong, aerial died fiexd under warranty and the front wheel bearings went onec again warranty.
Personally the camry is a great car for eating miles but as a handling package its not great it doesn't take to long to explore the limits off the car and find out it will understeer. The motor is good but lacks low down torque and is getting a bit long in the teeth, and with the added weight of the new generation camry probably could do with a bigger motor or a few more herbs squeezed out.
