Jag7799’s car uses an auto ECU with an R154 IIRC. People were saying that it couldn’t be done but he said something along the lines of “If it is wired correctly it will work fine”. Also, his car runs leaner than most stock ecu, mild modded 1jz’s but not sure why.

hmmmmm....
I know about the extra wiring you have to do, i.e. the neutral start switch but my engine is from a manual car with a manual loom, I was wondering if the ECU i am using would be detrimental to this and not run...I heard they were the same I just want some clarification thats all

I doubt the plugs are the same.
Worth a try though.

well it plugs in ok but i have a feeling maybe the pins on the ECU do different things
can anyone please confirm this?

What are the 2 ecu's from?
JZX81? JZX90? JZZ30? JZA70?
What years?

I've got my manual 1jz running off an auto ecu in my chaser, it runs fine. From memory, the JZA70 manual and JZX81 auto ECU's have the same pinouts, with the JZX81 auto just having a few extra wires used in the plugs. I depinned all the auto-related wiring from my ecu plugs and stripped it out of the loom.

Sixworks has the JZZ30 pinouts on its website.
May have others too.
Search around for pinouts, you may be lucky.
Otherwise check which pins are earths.
If they are earths on the same pins, you'll be less likely to fuck something up.

I just cross-checked the pinouts of the auto jzx81 ecu against the manual jza70 ecu, all pins are in exactly the same location, the auto ecu has a few more wires to control the auto. So you can run a manual loom and motor on an auto ECU if you want to by simply sorting out the NSW.
What problem do you actually have?

ok one more question:
does the JZZ30 auto computer have a 5 PLUG ECU or 4 PLUG ECU, also there is a smaller plug hanging off the end is that on a JZZ30 ecu as I found out that a JZZ30 ecu probably will not run off my loom.
Cheers
Matt
also if you have the part number for a JZZ30 ecu lying around that would be a massive help.

both auto and manual recus are bloody identical
this has been asked millions of times
one just has up to 10 extra wires to control the auto
and it might have a different ignition timing curve form auto to manual ecu
thats all
and regarding yr problem
have u tested noid light on every injector
the ecu will shut the injectors if the engine doesnt start within afew revolutions to stop it from flooding
double check u have good fuel flow comin out of the return line
i doubt its the ecu
its prob a wiring prob
i fukt round on a soarer 1j for 5 hrs one day tryin to get it to start till i eventually figured it out

problem with the car was the ecu.
i changed it, and now it runs.
i checked every injector. multiple times. i checked the wiring. multiple times.
i also knew that man/auto ECU's make no difference to whether it will run or not.

i have one ecu here that wont fire one injector too
and it wont run
might be a 1j ecu
it must stuff other things internally too on the ecu
cause it should still start with 1 cyl down
ill have to seeif its something on the circuit board
