1jz non-vvti to vvti Tue, 24 May 2005 03:13 Go to next message
Hi guys,
I was reading on another site and there was a guy who had a 1jz in an ma61. He thinks that someone in Japan has swapped a vvti head onto his earlier model 1jz. Although it still had the earlier cam covers. Is this possible?

I have never heard of it being done before, but I suppose that would be because it would be a very large expense for relatively small gains if any IMO.

thanks
Chris

I haven't heard of this being done either, but arn't the manifolds for VVTI and non VVTI slightly different? So anyone with an upgraded turbo would have to redo their manifold?

I highly doubt the nonvvti cam covers will fit on the vvti head.

The vvti looks like a 2jzgte

that is what I thought also. Smells like BS to me. He said it made 267rwkw with HF turbos. So if the port spacing is different then that would prove BS as no one in their right mind would mod the stock exhaust mani to fit the vvti head.
