Converting import stereos to Aussie FM Tue, 24 May 2005 12:15 Go to next message
Guys would it be hard to get the FM receiver unit or whatever out of an aussie stereo and solder/fit it to an import stereo??

I know you can get converters to make them work but I would like to go one better and actaully get it to read and show aussie frequencies.

Just that I have been offered one of those TV screen style units and I'd like to play with it but want it to show aussie stations.

I'm sure it can be done I just don't know what part to swap over. I have a couple of older stereos with LCD displays that should be good for donor electronics.

sounds like a mission compared to fitting a converter or whole new setup of headunit.

The PCB in the radio might have a link or a jumper that can be changed to tune aussie frequencies.

If it doesnt have somthing like this, it will be very difficult.
Ie, requiring component changes or re-programming.

Either way, it wont be somthing you can do.

Take it to your local backyard TV repair joe (not somewhere big like Force), they should be able to work out what can be done.
