The ACT section is a bit of a ghost town, not much happening.

You can see the tumblweeds blowing around the ACT forum.......

http://phoenix.about.com/library/graphics/tumbleweeds02.jpg

CRUISE TO WAKEFIELD FOR SPECTATING/DRIFTING (what ever you want to do, most of us are spectating I think)

CRUISE DETAILS

Date: Saturday 28th

Meeting point: Shell Gateway (at the side entrance to EPIC, drive past the bowsers and through to the carpark around the back. The car park is visible from Northbourne and has plenty of room)

Departure time: 7:30am on the dot!

Cruise route: From Shell Gateway head up the Highway to Goulburn. Petrol/Food stop at Goulburn and then out to Wakefield Park. Watch drifting unitl all cars are broken or it gets boring. Head home.

Cheers.

yes,.. It has been rather quiet in the ACT section

If there is a cruise this weekend, I might bring the old KE20 out for some socialising..

Driving like a tool = driving beyond ones limits on a public road Wink

Cheers.

3k + 4 speed = a very slow little rolla,.. probably won't be able to keep up Sad

I'll keep track of this post, and see how the interest goes,. Very Happy

The 3K powered KE20 would be most welcome Smile , it definitely won't be a race from point A to point B, just a cruise on some nice roads (that should be pretty quiet).

But like I said, I am open to any suggestions on cruise routes.

I went out and drove out to Orroral valley, Honeysuckle Rd (up to the site of the old tracking station), and around to Cotter via Tharwa (but the bridge is out at the moment so it would have to be via Point Hut). It was a nice drive, not bad scenery, reasonable roads.

Maybe a Saturday lunch time thing and just cruise to somewhere for lunch etc?

I figured most people would be busy with weekend duties so that's why I wanted to keep it flexible.

We can always stop at Tharwa for the best Pies in Tharwa.

Corin Road is another option, there is access as far as the slides at the moment.

I will fill in the details of the cruise as they are negotiated in this thread in the first post.

Hey there. I'm new here, names Jero. I've got a really stock KE30 and am up for a bit of a cruise.

I cant be too sure but I think Tharwa bridge is closed at the moment. Will check it out tomorrow. (Thursday)

EDIT: God I'm stupid.. Didn't quite read this whole thread and just skimmed through. Ok so someone has already taken the detour. Sounds good. Will deffinately be fun.

A trip to Wakefield to watch some dorifto sounds fine to me Very Happy

Should be a wide range of ability on the track at this sort of event.

So the cruise is confirmed as being to Wakefield (to watch or compete if you're keen).

The meet up point will be the Shell Gateway (as it's on the way out of Canberra, it's the one at the gates to EPIC).

What time do people want to meet?

I will cruise up and watch until I get bored and then head home.

Initial Drift will be holding a practice day at Wakefield Park Raceway on the 28/05/05. This will be a great opportunity to get some practise laps in before the next round of the NSW Championship Series. The day will kick off around 9am and continue through to 5pm.

As usual drivers are required to have NON FLAMMABLE neck to toe clothing with suitable footwear along with their Australian Standards approved helmet.

Registrations are now open.

More details will be available shortly.

Cheers,
Pete

Anyone else thinking of entering?

Thanks for posting up the Wakefield info Steve.

I won't be entering (I love my car and don't like abusing it Smile I'll save it for the CCG track day) but will be keen to watch, especially if some Canberra lads are getting out there to have a go!

How about we lock in a 7:30am departure on the dot. I will probably arrive 5 or 10 minutes before that as I like to sleep as long as possible Cool

Gumby can enter the Skyrine, they are built for dorifto!

Thinking of having a go in the Sprinter, but without an LSD and a 4ac, I could only attack the tighter corners.

Gumby, we have so many stockies for that skyline, we can fill the van with them. You better burn them all up Evil or Very Mad

So it looks like it will be myself (green corolla) and Steve (red Sprinter) at the Shell Service Station at 7am so far.

I am assuming that entry to spectate will be free or stuff all.

Pity you can't make it Jero.

Nah just kidding, you guys will be fine. The only wall is on the straight and I am pretty sure they don't let big slides out of the last corner.

T'was a good day out Very Happy Pity I had to leave early, but I saw some good slides at least.

Steve, some nice driving and slides, very impressive, especially when you consider the open diff and massif power you were working with. Well done.

That old Ke30 sedan with the 202 in it was great to watch, that thing must have been hard to drift, but it did get some good slides going and was linking a few corners.

Not as many cars there as I thought there would be.

F$%K it was cold!

Later guys.

The Hoff.
