How to make my ae82 rolla sound better

Hey everybody,
Basically, im a poor bogan, but i want to make my ae82 corolla sound a little more "rorty". I have a budget of $10. Some people have told me that drilling holes in teh muffler in a bogan inc. fashion will increase noise level. I don't particularly want to do that. Any other ideas?
Thanks for your hep people.
P.s: I have heard from "trusty" sources, that an exhaust tip changes the note of an exhaust. Surely this is an urban myth? Yes?

Take your $10, buy some blank tapes, go down to your local racetrack and record sounds of real cars, place the tapes in your tape deck and play louder than your shit tin exhaust is - seriously, $10 won't even get you an evil thought in a knocker shop these days.

no..its not an urban myth!
why just last night i had this fully sic p plater in a ae82 gti trying to play cat and mouse with me. my poor pathetic ma70 just couldnt keep up with this dude mad skillz. all the way down alexander drive, what a racer! bet hes a drifter too!
from what i could see he had a fully worked two stroke conversion a la lawnmower exhaust pipe chrome tip, fully colour coded bumbers and rub strips and authentic Twin Cam 16 badging!
drill holes yeah you should do it! and get the pipe extension too! and if you have enough left over, buy some of the aussie export spraycans and colour code your bumpers and mirrors for the fully sic effect!
Man drivers like him give me inspiration and make me want to drive a Rolla too!
No seriously, Dont be a homofag. Save up and buy a proper exhaust that actually does something more than make noise! I pissed myself laughing at that homo in the ae82 thinking he was faster than me, and that i was going to take him knowing full well there was a speed trap right over the hill..

My friend picked up a car from here that had a hole in a muffler and I know of someone else who cut the muffler off.
With the muffler off it sounds beasty but the hole in the muffler makes a really loud bogan-style disgusting sound that hurts your ears.
Both were ae82 hatch's as well!
Good luck captain bogan

Ooh Ooh, my car sounded really beasty. Here is what I did. Dropped a 20v silver top in, and then drove with no cat. EXH coming straight out of the extractors (until I got to the exhaust shop...

My AE82 just has a cheap 2" cat back exhaust and sounds quite nice. About $200 from memory.
Don't think you'll get a decent result with anything cheaper than that

Come visit me, give me your $10, and if I really like you, I'll get the grinder, cut your muffler off, and weld a piece of old tailshaft on in place of it.
However, when it comes to sounding good, well... If you've got a 4AG, then your car will just sound loud/buzzy/horrible. If you've got a 4AC, I'll insist that you get the thing towed away so I don't have to hear the result.
Good luck.
