speedo playin up ra23

in my ra23 when im in 5th doing 100km/h it sits on 3 grand
lately sometimes when i try to give it a crakcin the speedo seemes to slip and advance itself
for example.. when iam at 3 grand in 5th itll say im doing 130km/h
and as for the other gears it will say im doing a faster speed than i actually am. this has only just started and im wondering whatthe problem is..
is my speedo cable on the way out?

speedo cable could be cactus.
or
could be some gears in your speedo itself.
Also, check that, believe it or not, you don't have a bad ground.
because if you do have a bad ground, the engine may be earthing through the speedo cable, cause it to become weak and do strange things
