depends on whether you mean the 1jz-gte or the 1jz-ge, or the 1jz-gte vvti

1JZ-GE : 200BHP @ 6000rpm 185lb/ft @ 4000rpm
1JZ-GTE: 280(capped)BHP @ 6200 269lb/ft @ 4800rpm
1JZ-GTE(VVTi): 280(capped)BHP @ 6200 278lb/ft @ 2400rpm

has anyone actually tested these figures? The 1/4 mile times etc are REALLY good for a 206kw car.

Have they just said that it had 206kw just to get around the laws in Japan? Like the GTHO Falcons in Australia?

I've heard that the 1JZ-GTE actually puts out between 235-250kW, but Toyota just say it's 206kW for legal reasons.

I have no idea on the validity of the claim, but a 206kW, 1600kg Soarer sure seems quicker than a 225kw Clubsport.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. I read in a Zoom mag that the Chasers with a 1J were dipping into the 13's with a 5 speed....stock!!

Thats sooooo fast!

Especially for a luxo fat boy car

My geuss is about 210KW-220KW, in stock trim.

Most soarers put out about 155-170RWKW. Manuals are at the higher end of that scale.

I read that a 225kw VX SS GEN 3 Commodore pulled 130kw at the wheels!

That's a frazz low, maybe an auto?? Most 6 speeds go about 150-160Rwkw.

I may have been the Holden test/press vehicle, Thrashed everytime it is driven!!!

ha ha ha

yeah maybe

it was a test in a Commodore magazine and they were finding out how a 3" exhaust would go on one. I'm sure it only went up to about 160kw with the exhaust

Pete

Most of the LSOC and ALSC guys who dyno their stock 1J Soarers seem to get 130-140rwkw, Simon (at the Dyno Day) and myself included.

I'd tend to believe that 155-170rwkw is usually with intake and exhaust restrictions removed.

BTW - Most 225s are easy beats, the 300s are at least interesting.

What you mean they were dynoed in Perth? What does that mean? Are you talking about the "real" dynos, or the showpony one?

Its hilarious going to an Auto Salon, seeing a car with a Dyno chart from Myaree claiming X amount of hp...then it actually goes to the dyno competition...and scores X...minus about 100-150hp Smile Funny shit, they get so pissed off too.

well, I'd say the 1jz couldn't put out anymore than about 220bhp .... if you consider the newwest 2jz-gte only puts out 350 (yes, "only")

the thing you have to remember when racing falcodoores is they tend to be pretty crappily built, with large drivetrain losses ... almost all of them are autos

That said, I have seen an HSV, "CYPHER", keep up with a modded 180sx, with the boost wound way up

You are kidding???? 220BHP in 1600 Kg's of soarer beats vs 300BHP in a 1580 kg commode and the Soarer wins.

And you put this down to drivetrain losses.

A stock 2J that had 10000klms on it put out 350Hp on a engine dyno. That was running motec.

I still reckon a 1j would be around the 300Hp mark, Stock.
