The snout on the turbo is a little bent due to a fall im assuming and a missing wastegate actuator im not too worried about it as i got it at a pretty damn good price. As you can see other than that the turbo is in fine shape and has 0 shaft play or next to 0 and everything appears brand new which seems to back up the japanese salespersons claim that it was an unused reccoed turbo.
I threw in a photo of me in japan for the hell of it

yeah would have given the car that authentic japanese look
its all comming together just need all the pieces that joins everything up like i/c piping and stuff. Next big purchase is the ecu which should soak up the rest of my cash.
Im going to post a few pics of my engine conversion once i get them off the other computer and ill keep posting pics of the progress.

I took some pictures of my car with the 3 spoke rims on it today. The rims look better than i thought they would they would the extra inch width on each side and the offset seems to really suit the car.

Looks good Dood !!
Just while i think of it, what are your opinions on the max power / boost pressure the stock GZE crank, rods, pistons, rings etc are good for ?
I assume you are going to retain stock internals and going to run upto what like 17-18 PSI with the 2535 ?

yeah cheers man the n/a inlet manifold is a right bugger of a thing to crinkle coat you have to get the first coat thick enough so you get some decent size crinkles but yet thin enough that it dosent run and make it look all out of whack and its real tricky when there are heaps of nooks and crannys all in all it turned out acceptable for a 2nd effort should look good once its in the car... the throttle is also a bugger to get all the carbon/oil buildup off but i managed to get most of it clean.
im going to run all stock internals and about 22 psi if the turbo is good for it...
i hope the standard rods pistons rings etc etc should be good for 200rwkw thats assuming the engine is in good health....
my thoughts are with a good tuner it should hold together ok.. just have to make sure it dosent ping otherwise b00m
i think my biggest issue is going to be the clutch exeedy said it will be good for 200rwkw but im skeptikal.

It all sounds good to me, very keen to see it come together as are you i am sure !
How are the brakes coming along, when do you think you will put them in the car if you have not allready ?

Sound good, thought about doing this mod so will be interested in the performance improvements.
I have given the brakes in my car a good flogging on the track and never had a problem while using SRF brake fluid.
There is no way on the road that you would ever punish the brakes as hard as you can on the track. Like where would you get up to 200 clicks down to say 80 up to 160 down to 100, up to say 160 down to 70, then up to 200 agian all within 90 seconds then do it over and over and over again !
i will be very interested to see how it goes particularly the balance. From the factory they tend to lock the fronts especially the front left under heavy braking particularly in the wet, and usually from low speeds where there is less weight transfer, cant say i ever had the problem from high speed on the track...maybe i was just never trying hard enough.
Some people have recomended harder pads in the front (than the rears), sound like a good idea.
Dont know about a bigger booster tho, i reckon they are overboosted allready. A good example is during an advanced driving course i did the instructer actually bent down and braked the car from 70 km/hr (in the wet) using his hand and pulled it up shorter than everyone else, just to prove its not about force but threshold braking and pedal modulation.
obviously bigger brakes and pistons etc may vary but it would be a good idea to speak to the engineer first. I drove a TA22 celica with a twin turbo set up it had huuge brakes like 330 dia but they were very touchy and not balanced and IMO totally dangerous. So do plenty of research.

just a little update...
looks like i wont be running an ems 8860. Altho i wanted to use this ecu a wolf 3d ver4 plus with hand controller has come up at the right price so looks like ill be using that instead. Not that the wolf is a bad thing but it should be about $500 cheaper so it appeals to me.

how much power do you think you will make with your HKS GT2535 Turbo? I am looking at turbo's at the moment and am a bit undecisive.......
Nice work, will be good to see some results when it is finished!!

hey man bummer about having to fix nagging little things but thats the way it is eh . My car is the same.
Front end in the air. I had to send my front Koni's away to get rebuilt which is costing me $300 at the max, whereas a new pair would be somewhere around $600-700. They weren't doing anything...
And I have bought myself a subaru water to air cooler off ebay (total $81) that I am going to look at fitting very soon. I need to relocate the battery into the front and organise a heat exchanger and water pump but I can't wait till that is done.

yeah i dont think my shocks are doing much either i was going to do something about it but im going to save up for some coilovers. Today i got new belts and the s/c belt all tensioned up so im finally getting full boost. That means i have to get it retuned but ohh well shouldnt cost too much.. I had to put in a new gearbox and im filling my engine mounts with sikaflex. So slowly slowly the more you do the better you feel about the car..
Just to make my life a little more interesting my speedo stopped working today and i think its broken at the gearbox end argghh...
anyways would be good to see your w/a setup id imagine the inlet temps with 15psi would be pretty high. I had a squiz at my inlet air temps on the wolf 3d hand controller and after a quick burst at full boost the inlet temps were allready at 68 degrees on stock boost

that's damn high. When I use the water spray on my air to air IC, I can definitely feel a difference. So hopefully this water to air cooler will be even better.
What shocks are you using? I've noticed you are trying to find some struts. Is that so you can keep a standard set incase the coilover conversion goes wrong?
Do you know if the struts are actually shared from any of the corolla's?? Because I have a set of coil overs from an AE101 corolla that I want to see if they will fit.
I'll let you know how that goes once I've checked it out. It might make it easier for you to find front struts if they are similar or common to those off another car.

interesting i would be interested in having a look at those coil overs. Im pretty sure the ae82 and ae92 have a similar front susspension setup but the read susspension is different i thinks
Yeah im trying to figure out what to do susspension wise im pretty sure the front shocks are blown and i was looking at some coil over sleeve kits which i could buy for about $500 from the states and get some adjustable shocks
yeah i think the w/a will help heaps and it wont run out of water like the water spray.

ok so today i got the exhaust manifold off and started test fitting the turbo manifold and the turbo.
I found that i will need to remote mount the oil filter apart from that everything looks like it will fit no probs
Also the turbo manifold needs to get sandblasted and hpc coated
