i was thinking id cut the part that it plugs into out of the (removed )top part of aribox , does it just need to be pluged in n thats all?? ...
i meant to ask this a while ago but i forgot , its been siting inside a bag (so it dont get wet) cable tied so it dont move...
its a air flow senser isnt it?

Does your car use an AFM or MAP sensor? If the latter, it is probably a temperature sensor. It just needs to sit somewhere where it can measure the temp of the air going into the intake. Not sure if it has to actually sit in the airflow though. Can anyone clarify?

Yep, it's a MAP sesnored motor, and the sensor you refer to is to sense air temp. Plum the temp sensor in somewhere it can read the intake air temp - back of the pod filter possibly?!

no i dont think it'l fit ..
so i either just sit it somwehre in the engine bay
or
cut out the top of the airbox that its supposed to be plugged into and sit that sumwhere in engine bay?
if that makes a difference ??? does it matter if it gets wet?

it's pretty important that it senses the temp of the air going into the motor - anywhere in the airflow after the air-filter would be a sensible place.
"Anywhere in the engine bay" might do - but if you're stuck in traffic you'll heat-soak the engein bay and the sensor will read high.

I drilled a hole in the pipe just after the filter and used silicone to glue it in. Without the silicone it tended to fall out easily... was quite happily measuring the temp of my transmission (and making the engine feel sluggish) for a few days.
Its unlikely to get wet in your engine bay. You wont need cut up your airbox, the sensor should just unclip and pop out.
