This is a two valve carburettor but one of the valves has frozen/busted. The car is now showing more signs of a carb problem. What is best to do with carb problems? Buy new or reconditioned? Get the existing one fixed?
cheers

Hi,
You're talking about the 2T engine? Not a 2TB or 2TG?
If it's just the 2T engine, and you don't want to spend too much money and just want it fixed, then take it to a carby specialist or qualified engine tuner and they should be able to get a repair kit (ie gaskets, jets and other stuff) and rebuild it and tune it back to new for you.
If you want a different carby, then it's a different matter - depending what you're after.

Heres wat i did.
Bought a fuel miser carb rebuilt kit for the carby of the 2t*around $60. Rebuilt the whole thing myself, runs well. I am 16 years old and havent had a great deal of experience. But hey, if i can do it, i dare say alot of other people can do it also.
$60 and a few hours of personal time and i had a fresh new carby.

If you buy a carby kit you usually get a digram with it. Like Jeffro said, it's not that hard to do, just a few hours if you haven't done it before. I also did this when I was younger and you can't really stuff it up.

its a good idea to have a heap of pressure pack lids handy, so u can seperate which bolts belong to which section of the carby e.g. all air horn bolts go in this container. And dont do it without a pressure pack of carby cleaner, (crc brand)

Hey I've got a 2T-B and its carbs are not real well(not sure), but my mate reckons it should be pulling a bit harder than it currently is. The engine is stock in a TA22, very new to carby engines, so any info/ideas would be useful.
Cheers

Hehe I just bought it, it doesnt misfire, it just isnt as quick as I expected it would be. He has had a TA22 with a 2T for over a year or so, and knows a shite load more than I do about them, so yeah I do trust him. However he only had a quick look in the dark last night.
BTW I have two carbs

I think it is the secondaries(think thats what their called) the other half of the carb, they wont open even under full throttle. But if I give them a push with a screw driver they open up, now I just need to figure out what is stopping it

I had a think about it Andy, I rekon the "custom linkages" just dont actuate the secondary cams. Does anyone have any pics of a genuine 2TB linkage setup?
Mabe start a new thread for this dude

well I had a "pro" look at my carb and he thought that although there was lots of carbon my real problem was the automatic choke wasn't working. He installed a kit to convert the choke to manual. Interesting though, the RACV guy reckoned one of the valves was frozen. Does this sound alright to you guys or am I being taken for a ride? Given the choke is now manual, can I still go ahead with the fuel miser carb rebuild kit as suggested by Jeffro?
