Basically I just copied the original masonite tank cover, and made an mdf replica but didn't go right across. I used the existing tabs except for the bottom where I made a right angle bracket. The sub is bolted to the floor. I can still pull back the carpet and get the spare out.

I didn't have enough mdf and the Sub box would have faulted anyway.

It's no show car so it just had to work and look neat.
You could make it longer if you wanted.

Hi PMP, I fit stereos for a living. I have fitted a fair few custom installs in my time also, including a $20g system in a nissian urvan. With the sub facing the side of the boot I get plenty of bass. (infact, probably too much). I dummy fitted the box in a number of ways before deciding on the final position. Facing it towards the rear of the car actually produced the least bass, and I also couldn't get to the spare.

All cars are different so I've found you just have to play with it. If the tank wasn't directly behind the seat I would have put it (or tried it) facing the rear seat. I believe this would have been better.
