I've been doing a bit of research, and reading a few old threads on the subject, and have seen a bit of Noltec vs K-Mac. Just wondering who's had experience with japanese ones, ie cusco or jic? Or peoples' opinions on how they compare to the aussie ones?

there isnt much to them! alloy saves a bit of weight and look better, but really you set and forget them so really makes no diffrence aslong as they do camber and caster.looks and weight you will pay more.a few extra grams of weight and dont look as racey for wont of a better word and you pay a bit less.

Thanks mick. Know if the cusco and jic ones are bushed or solid mounted? Don't really want solid mount on my car as it's my road car driven every day.
I'm considering the used jap ones mainly cause they're cheaper, and like you said, you tend to set and forget. Also, they don't really seem like the sort of thing that wears out so 2nd hand isn't a problem?

Have had the T3 ones for over a year now , still as good as new , just seal the lower area with some foam or rubber and keep them lubed and they should last longer than the car . Very well made . Cusco ones get noisy in about a week , and the bearing spacer doesn't self center with that stupid top nut . Making one person strut changes imposable without hours of fucking around I have seen three people struggle to get a strut in with a 10kg spring rate before due to this crap design . Noltec , crazy pricing if you can get a direct price , weeks of waiting , most of there double camber / caster mounts drop the amount of travel compared to the t3 model due to there physical size , lots of waiting due to no defiant answer from them again . Kmac ones bend with time , messy design often makes them hard to fit without lots of stuffing around with spacing etc .

improvedae86 - do you find, being solid, that they transmit more road noise etc than the stock (rubber)hats?

nope , not as much as the crappy rear end in the ae86 . There really very quite , never a bang or crash even on dirt roads with track spring rates .

If you are taking about T3... just tell them you want them for an RA28.
They will send out the correct ones.
