Get some multi-grips, bite into the plastic button, and twist it out on the thread. Then remove the spring in there somehow. Then screw the new button on.

Thanks all.
I did it.
But nearly have to brake the handbrake because it is hard to have grip on that small button.

Only the round door locks work. Go for a rear seat fold down latch, they are much better. And usually round.

the back seat button works, you can use one from an old corona.Or to save all the hassels, just tape up your stock one for track days and remove tape for road driving, works just as well and cost's next to nothing.

I assume by 'drift button' you mean a mod that takes the ratcheting action out of the handbrake lever, allowing it to go up and down freely?
Just push the button in, and drill straight through the handle and the button. Then just press the button in and insert a pin to lock it into 'drift' mode. harder to get sprung by Da Fuzz as well.

easier to destory incresingly rarer parts.
this mod doesnt destory anything and is easily reversable if you do it properly,
meanwhile, drilling holes messes things up

yeah but with a home made drift button while its in 'drift mode' you can still completely lock the handbrake up
