I think it's more of a 'no go' because it's not easy to do rather than the wrong thing to do. You'd have to make an inlet pipe and a sealed section where it joins to the top of the carby. A normal Ram Flo style filter is fine to use.

but if i did that it would be sucking in all the hot air from the engine ?? so if i made one up it. would it make my car run like a dog??

If I can find a round f'ing K&N Filter, I'm going to just replace the stock one. At least that gets cold air channeled from behind the headlight.

it depends where you put the filter as to if it sucks in hot air.... you can always use some piping to take the filter lower, where the air is cooler
