Hi Jesse,
What you need is a "firewire" port in your computer, sometimes firewire is also refered to as 1394.
You can pick up a firewire card for your computer that will let you connect your camera to your PC for about $40 from Dick Smith or any computer shop.
Is a good/cheap investment if you plan on making more vids.
I don't have a MiniDV camera otherwise I could help

another option is to get VIVO (video in, video out)
bonus if your vid card already has it.
go down to dick smith, or even harvey norman (but just for their advice, unless you want to sell a kidney to buy something) and tell them your dilemma, dont forget to bring your camera!

Yep you need to grab yourself a firewire card.
Don't f'ck around with analogue video capture (e.g. VIVO)... you can't beat firewire!!!
If you need to know where to get a card from or info on setting one up just send me a PM.
