I have been told my car is blowing white smoke under heavy acceleration. I have also noticed that after a drive if you were to start the car up again maybe 5 mins later it would puff out a nice cloud of white smoke for maybe 15 seconds then nothing. It doesn't seem to be blowing smoke under free reving. Would this be valve stem seals or turbo seals or..... piston rings.
If it is valve stem seals what is involved in replacing them labor wise to me or cost wise to a mechanic.
Valve stem seals will not blow smoke under hard acceleration cause the boost pressure in the cylinder stops this. If they are screwed smoke will only blow under situations of high vacuum i.e. when the throttle plate is closed after hard acceleration (high rpm), and hard braking.
