No you have to use the 2T/3T stock flywheel and clutch. The 3T GTE unit is to big for the T50 gearbox.
The best you can do is a slightly bigger clutch from the T18 over the stock 2T clutch.

Why don't you try lining them up? You'll soon work out that it doesn't work
The main issue here is that the proper 3TGTE clutch has 29mm x 21 spines for a W5* box, unlike the smaller 23.8mm input shaft of the T50, so in short, NO, you cannot use the clutch plate with your T50 gearbox at all.
You can however use the larger 3TGTE flywheel & pressure plate, and purchase a new clutch plate (not expensive) to suit the 225mm diameter, and 23.8mm x 21 spline T50 box. I did this with mine. The larger flywheel fits fine in the T50 bellhousing, and the ring gear is exactly the same, so no issues with the starter motor.
Cheers
Phil

Yep, either flywheel is fine as is either starter motor.
But you just cant use the 3T GTE clutch with the T50 as mentioned already.

Simon

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned this yet, but your T50 isn't likely to last very long behind a turbo engine. Maybe you'd be better off doing a W5x conversion straight away?

Norbie, you have hit the nail on the head, I could not agree more. The 3TGT, came in factory form with a W55 box. Obviously, the factory thought that a T50 would not cope!!!!
How many guys with RWD conversion 4AGTE's are still using the T50? Not too many, I would think.
Even Atmo 4AGE, and 3T/2T hybrids have been known to shred T50's
W55's are commonly available from 2SC powered SA6x Celica's.
Bellhousing may be a little harder to find, but come up 4 sale on these forums.
A 1G-GTE bellhousing would also suffice, if you can live with the clutch slave cylinder on the LH side. Or convert to the RH side.
cheers Chuck.

oh well when it breaks i will replace it, just reading the new drift battle and both 4AGTE sprinters are using T-50s with over 150rwkw so my engine will only have about 90-100rwkw so it should last for a while seeing as im not going to be thrashing the guts out of it.

The T50 should be able to cope with 180 to 200bhp at the flywheel. My conversion knowledge (no doubt someone will have other ideas)says that there will be conservative estimate of 30% drivetrain power loss so;
200 x 30% = 60
140 hpatw converted to kwatw = 104.4kwatw
It's not so simple either to just drop a W55 or other W series Gbox in. You will need to find a cressida 1 piece driveshaft and shorten it by about an inch and also stuff around with gbox mounts.
If you so want to make more horsies later then it's definitely no other option than to go the W series gbox though.

You need more than faith to make a gearbox hold together. A T50 was never designed to see much more than 100hp.

But the T50 will hold much more than that. I mean, a 3TGTEU was designed to drop about 115.5hp at the treads but everybody is happy enough to make them do double that if they can. If the T50 was designed to cope with only 100hp then what are all those 100kw+ 4AGE'S doing with them? It's not really a debate. This bloke is doing a similar thing to me in that he is running a lightly tuned motor that will not be putting out much more than stock power. The T50 should cope with that. Later on, once the hungerbug for more power comes (which it will, hehehe), he can do whatever he likes. At the end of the day, if he wants to bust his T50 and blow up his motor he can cos the car is his... (Not that thats gonna happen, hey?)

IL be running a t-50 behind my 3T-gt for as long as it lasts.. and while im saving up $300 odd bucks for a bellhousing, and $400-500 odd bucks for a w55/7/8.
What flywheel/pressure plate/clutch plate/tailshaft configuration does one need for running a W55 or W58 series box with a 3Tgt, in a TA23 chassis? (standard t292 rear end)
I bet i could find the answer if i searched...

Can find out specs if you are really interested...
Is this a Hybrid 3TG? Or is it the turbo twin cam 3TGTEU you are talking about (above quote)?

Sorry norbie about the confusion i didnt mean to sound rude or anything. I wasnt saying your wrong, i know the T-50's arent meant to hold up the the power but its been done plenty of times b4 i just personally think that it will hold up for the time i need it for and its hard to not get pissed off when someone says it wont be up to it when ive seen cars like 4AGZE sprinters with T-50's no one questions them and they have a very similar power output!

Just a FYI on the manual Crown clutch plate for the 3TGTE W58 pressure plate/flywheel combo to the T50. It's a goer! Fit's nicely and matches up to the T50 spline no worries. It's little bit smaller than the stock clutch plate on the inside pressure plate measurement diameter but it all fits no worries.

See the specs above. I just asked PBR to look for a clutch from a manual crown. Manual crowns are JDM, most ADM Crowns were auto's.
