84 celica with 18R-G

hey all i have started to put together my 18RG.
twin 40mm solex rebuilt.
high comp pistons fully re-built head and everything recon.
no as i have almost finished putting back together.
i was wondering has anyone else out there in toyota land put one of these in there 84 celica HAS IT BEEN DONE .
swapping it for the 2s-c.
if some one could let me know if they have and what they did to get it in.
that would be great.
and all the hassles they came accross.

Some xA6x Celicas in Japan has these stock - Ra63s I think.
However, I'm pretty sure it's not legal to put that engine in an '84, as the engine is older than the car, and engine conversions have to be saem year or newer IIRC.

Yup, but if you got an 18R-GEU from an RA63 you'd be sweet.

New Engines just have to match or exceed the emission standards of the engine its replacing, regardless of ages.
Find the factory emission specs of the 18R-G and the 2S-C and that will tell you if you can replace it.
