its a 3" system. cant see why it would be illegal. yes and it came with the cat coverter too.
at the moment i am running just the dump and connecting pipe. that alone gave me a noticable gain in performance. sounds very close to stock aswel. not loud at all.

regarding the st205 setup. i'm convinced i made the right choice! alot more grunt in the mid range rpm, and NO heatsoak.
also thought it was mad that after the hard drive i touch the intercooler and it is cool as. awesome, tho dont ask how much it all costed!!

I changed my injectors over today, to a newer set that I bought off Spectral ages ago, and had them cleaned. What a slut of a job to change these things! I'm hoping this might help my fuel consumption issue, just trying to eliminate all possible causes at the moment.

Hey does anyone know where I can get a set of Urethane engine / gearbox mounts made up for the 185?

Places I've tried:
TRD - Only have 1 out of 4 available (from Japan)
Noltec - Don't do custom jobs anymore apparently.

Also is anyone else after a set?
I'm thinking I might be able to persuade Noltec do a custom job if we've got a few people wanting.

I love the 1 or 2 days maximum that you get to enjoy how nice a clean black car looks! Mine looks filthy as, there's bloody greasy hand prints all over the top of the quarter panels from me leaning on it while working on it today!
And these fricken white wheels, look nice but are dirty after one day!

hey blackgt4, when and where are u getting ur whiteline kit installed? mark told me that urs was in but i still have to wait for mine to arrive, maybe at the end of this week. damn shit.

on another topic, what kind of air intake setups are u guys running? im looking at changeing my airfilter soon, and am wondering if it would be worth running a custom setup 3" pipe to a pod, and relocating the battery to the boot.

is there much of a gain to be had with custom setup, or should i just get a hi-flowing factory filter? also with a custom setup and pod im guessing the turbo spool noise would be MUCH louder? Very Happy

awesome, just got back from bursons.
he gave me works pack for $1500+gst so $1650

altogether with the bumpstops and front control arm bushes i am paying $1820.

i dont know if this was just like a once off deal for us or anything tho, but for anyone wanting a whiteline works kit
i'd say to go see Mark at Bursons in Mitcham.

I posted this in the new forum also, but more people come to this one atm Rolling Eyes

Hey guys i was wondering if anyone has done a Short shifter for their car?
http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=127
The lever in the ST185 is much like this, so that should (theoretcially at least) work for the 185's

Has anyone tried it? i am keen to give it a go at some stage.

so noone is interested in a possible group by of whiteline parts??

If people are keen ill make some enquiries with the seller and see if they are willing...id imagine they would consider it as they probably dont get 185 or gt4 customers that often....

I'm interested, my mechanic who deals with them was going to see if he could get me a better price. But I will go with whatever is lowest.
What does the 1600 get you black? Does it include all the stuff in the works kit. bushes ect. Because that seems like a pretty good price.

Cool, well its looks like we have 2 people so far, if anyone else wants to get whiteline parts (doesnt even have to be a kit, maybe just a rear sway bar etc) let us know and we will see what we can organise

One question I have for 185 owners in general...

At what RPM do you achieve full standard boost? (approx 8psi)

With my car accelerating on full throttle boost will start rising anywhere from 2000, but wont hit full boost until 3000 - 3200

just wondering if this is normal, when my car was dynoed I only had around 3 psi backpressure on the turbo which i was told is quite good considering i still have the original cat and a 3inch cat back exhaust.

I have a dual stage BC but im quite sure its still working properly

Re: GT4 owners dedicated thread Wed, 26 October 2005 09:08 Go to previous messageGo to next message
I'm pretty sure it's about 9 psi, for max boost on a normal unaltered ct26. My gt4 seems to hit peak at about 3 - 4K, but I haven't dynoed it yet, and I dont have any boost gauges or controllers, so I am only going by feel.
I have a 3 1/2" exhaust from the cat back, and it is creating terrible back pressure problems, so I will shrinking it back to a 3" system, and when I get the money will be getting an aussie 3" dump pipe, as I have heard they are good.

Mainly shocks and springs but I would consider a full works kit if the price was right.

It is not my highest priority at the moment, so would have to be a pretty good discount for me to buy.

ill give them a call at the end of the week and see what they say, and ill let you know what we can sort out

If you can get the works kit for $1500 I should be able to afford it. Might be a little tight depending on how much my exhaust costs to get done, but we will see.

for $1650 you get the whiteline works kit.(http://www.whiteline.com.au/docs/fact_sheets/CK_Ce lica_ST185.pdf)
i took what the guys in this thread said and ordered the control arm bushes and bumsptops. (these arent included in the works pack and are additional items)
and it totallled to $1820.

Are the bumpstops and control arm bushes worth the Extra $?

What type of a difference will they make to handling?

Can they be fitted after the struts and springs, or would you have to remove the lot to put them in?

Bumpstops are worth replacing because the old ones will prob be rooted anyway... and urethane ones will last forever.

Control arm bushes help to tighten things up more in the steering dept.

Both are best done when you're doing the rest of the kit.

And I thought mine had low kms at 130K !?!

Makes me wonder why someone would buy a performance car like that and not drive it Rolling Eyes

They're talking 2,000km per year! To acheive that it would have to be a weekend car that you just drove occasionally so that the tyres didn't perish and the battery didn't go flat! What's the point?

Could it really be genuine?

It looks very original. Rainey you may want to add 123 to the GRP A listing.

hey for those of u who have boost controllers fitted to your cars, how does that work with ur insurnace policies?

anything non RWC is enough to void ur insurance, and as far as i know boost controllers arent RWC in australia? so hence u need an engineers report?

My new rims are rocked up last night, and a few other goodies as well. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

here they are, excuse the dirt, its been raining here a lot lately.

they are speedline 6 spoke 17x7 on 35+offset with 215/40/17 Firenza ST-03 tyres. The tyres are not what i expected, they are pretty crap actually, there is heaps of side wall roll, doesnt feel to right, But it will do for the moment until i can afford some more sticky track tyres Very Happy

anyway, here are the pics:

Do you have spacers on the rear - seems to fill out the guards quite well.

Also, what happened to the TRD and TURBO 4WD badges from the side of your car?

Nice choice shane. I'm looking forward to getting some white rims on my Group A Very Happy

Do you have spacers on the rear - seems to fill out the guards quite well.

Also, what happened to the TRD and TURBO 4WD badges from the side of your car?

Thanks dude, i am very happy with them also Very Happy

I do have 25mm H&R spacers on the rear, that helps fill in those guards for sure Very Happy

Mine never had any TRD badges, nor did any group A as far as i know. I didnt put the turbo and 4wd stickers, my car is just a girly celica to the unsuspecting. Laughing Razz

Doesn't the "Water to Air Intercooler" sticker give it away?

You callin' me a ricer!?!?! Laughing

Seriously though - I thought the TRD badges were standard - here is a pic of mine (sorry for the poor quality - and the dirtiness of my car):

Doesn't anyone else have them?

heh - TRD for worship purposes or TRD cause i actually have the parts ?

A TRD one is replaceing my Water to air stickers on the group A bonnet .. I think its more suiting ..

And If you want the proper group A stickers for any group A out there that needs them replaced ( or GT8 group A's that need them custom made , hint hint justen! Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes )- i have a full set bar the water to air one - message me - as i have a complete scan available for reproduction , in any colour ..

Got them made as im putting them on the grey thing - along with "HYBRID" addons , as so not to upset the purist group A crew ( if there is one ! ) .. ( as mine is a GT4 made to a group A , out of a mix of 205 and 185 group A parts , not a limited edition )

The genuine set may go on after Ms grey gets a respray , hopefully next year , though i havent decided , to go grey metallic like it is, and change the rims to something more japspec - looking at Enkei RP03's or buddyclubs atm

- or something totally mad like lamborghini Orange , like on the gallardo, with black bonnet and black Enkei/buddyclub rims

Whats peoples thoughts on this ?

I would have thought that a genuine Group A would have a number of TRD manufactured parts Razz

Although if you go to the TRD parts catalogue, you won't find anything for the ST185, so maybe not Rolling Eyes

My car was bog stock when I bought it except for a custom exhaust, so I would be surprised if the TRD badges had been added by a previous owner.

I think we need to accept that all Group A's are not the same. For example, mine has TRD badges and no gold 'limited edition' plaque in the engine bay.

As for adding Group A stickers to your car Stu, I wouldn't. I'm not a fan of putting badges/stickers on a car that weren't originally on it. But each to his own....
