 HELP-auto's 7mgte (1ggte same?)

guys the auto from a 7mgte and 1ggte in a soarer are they the same? with a different "bellhousing" so to speak.
eg can i use my 1ggte on the 7mgte?
please heap i dont want to pull them both out to find out they wont.
Both are MZ21, GZ20 soarers
(thinking of keeping the 1ggte auto as a spare for the soarer)
but need to know before its picked up

The 1G box is almost certainly weaker than the 7M box... I wouldn't recommend it.

wel on the VIN tag things it had the same transmition code so i thought they would be the same. but now its sold so i will get the 7mgte auto rebuilt i guess anyone idea on cost?

Check the codes out, if it says its the same, then it must be, so it can't hurt having a spare...

If the code is the same then it's the same type of box, but that doesn't mean the internals are the same. Again, I'd be very surprised if the 1G box was anywhere near as strong as the 7M box.

Wouldn't it have a slightly different code if the internals were different? Otherwise they wouldn't be able to tell them apart...

Not necessarily. For example, turbo and non-turbo 7M's have the same auto box according to the trans code, but the turbo has a higher stall rpm and beefier clutches. I expect it would be the same deal with the 1G box.

well the 1ggte is gone as is the TA22 so i will just get the 7mgte soarer auto servised or rebuilt. dam expencive!
but everything else in brand new

does the 7m auto box have manual mode? is it an A340-E? and does "manual mode", mean like the new falcon, where you can change gears in it, and it changes when you tell it? sorry im stealing your thread to get a quick question in...

ahhhhhh i dont know what manual mode exactly is, but in mine i have 1,2 Drive. as per all autos
but you can have eccon mode, normal mode, and sports mode
the gear change point is different, eg is around 6000RPM on sports.
there is also over drive
prob not the info your after but someone will know i'm sure.
