turbo drain facing up Mon, 06 June 2005 10:43 Go to next message
does it matter if the oil drain outlet of a turbo faces up instead of down? (assume it does) if so how do the guys that use hi-mount manifolds on ca18s etc get away with it?

it definately matters! not only must the drain be facing down, the straighter the better. you want as littls restriction as possible as the only thing returning the oil to the sump is gravity.

so the guys that go for hi-mounts (flange facing up on say t25/t28) do they have to rotate the housing?

rotate housing/rotate CHRA.. depends which way you look at it I guess.

But yes I had a problem with this on my first turbo setup I ever did. You certainly need as straight as possible return for the oil.
