Hi Folks... Not really a newbie here as I have been registered for a while... I thought I'd pop in and say hi, and see what your guys are doing with your cars!! I hear this is the place to learn more about the 1G-GTE... I havea 1G in teh UK, and although more and more are being imported they are still pretty rare adn people don;t seem to know much about them!!!!
I have an '88 Narrow body 1G-GTE aerotop Supra, and a '92 supra turbo hard top

My daily driver is a 7M, running 550cc's, lex afm, pretty big suprasport hybrid CT-26, and a few other toys to make it all work nicely (Apexi SAFC-II etc etc). I personally am not a huge fan of the 7M engine, but I love them when they work.... This is also the car I have taken to and around the Nurburgring in Germany.. I hope to go again this summer!!!
As for the 1G car.. I am half thinking of getting a 2JZ for it, its more my show car (you could never get aerotops in the uk, so its something a bit different) -the problem is I am rebuilding the 1G engine and just sent the head off to renault F1 to get re worked... it would be a shame not to use it, on teh other hand I want power, and I'm never going to get big power out of the 1G, without spending "buy and fit a 2jz" money!
Pics!!! - Sorry there are a few!!!
My Narrow Body 1G-GTE aerotop, not fast, but looks great!
1G-GTE engine, before I took it out.. even more polished bits now!
1992 7M-GTE. one of the last mkiiis of the line! (after august '92) I am going for the sleeper look here I will eventually get bigger wheels, but only so I can fit bigger brakes! (the current brembo set up kinda caught fire twice at the Nurburgring )
My girlfriend's '91 7M-GTE turbo.. Pretty much stock apart from the rims, hybrid turbo, full HKS exhaust and highflow turbo elbow..
Can you tell we like Mkiii supras???

In a way kinda makes me think of a girl i'm trying to chase up at the moment. I love the KE corollas. And she drives a
KE55 corolla
BTW - "trying to chase" as in she works at one end of the resort and i work at the other end and i only get to see her either once or twice a week
Sorry for stealing/changing the topic peoples

Dude, some of the best condition mkIII's i have seen in a long time. Congrats. I am SO jealous of you going around Nurburgring. It's like my dream. Dude, if you already have a 7m etc, I would just work on getting that one purring like a kitten before doing any major engine swap. They can be really nice if done properly.

Cheers guys!!!!
The Grey 7M runs fine as it has had a full engine rebuild.. a friend of mine bought it cheap with a headgasket blown, and while the engine was half out gave it a full overhaul the only problem is pattern part stem seals were used, which give me a puff of start up if its been sitting, not really a problem!!! I am thinking of rebuilding a spare head with new toyota stem seals, ported and gasflowed, when its done pop it on with a metal headgasket so I can get the most out of my hybrid turbo (thats still sat on my coffee table )
My girlfriends Red turbo we have not had long, Also bought cheap with a bottom end knock. I have just fitted the new engine, but am waiting for a new boost hose as the old one was split before I can test it!! Seems to run fine! It means I have a spare engine to rebuild at leasure... so I can buy uprated bits for it when I can afford them, instead of trying to rush to get mobile again!!
Caledwvech cheers I'm a *bit* of a mk3 fan, I know them inside out and am on my 5th one! I run a website in the Uk mainly dedicated to them, but its a mess . spend most of my time fixing the bloody things..
The Nurburgring is simply awesome.. I don't usually use that word, but it put me in Awe!!! GT4 representation of it is VERY accurate! -We were lucky that weekend in that the F1 section was open to the public to For anyone interested A video of one of my laps downloaded here
http://www.tocbeer.co.uk/movie/ring.wmv (right click save as.. its BIG!) We were taking it easy as it was only our second lap and we didn't know the track... theres a LOT to learn!!! I was gutted There were no decent pictures of me on teh track!!!!
As is always the way with cars.. I have the plans and not the funds!

Yeah rust isnt a huge problem unless you live by the sea. But we live about 30-45mins away, so that's no probs. We have more problems from crazy drivers and overheating.
