I inherited this car off my grandma with 112,000 km on the clock. The car has been in the family since new, I'm the 3rd owner (originally owned by my great grandfather).
At this stage the mods are pretty mild, but it is awaiting an engine swap.
2.25" Exhaust with a resonator and a 4" Dytech Dumper
13" ROH Minilites with Cooper Cobra 205/60/R13's
Lowered x inches on blocks, custom springs and Munroe GT gas shocks
Alarm/Keyless Entry/Central Locking/Tints/Retractable front seatbelts
Crappy stereo (With custom parcel tray for the speakers)
Non Monster Auto Meter tacho installed in dash
I've got an 18RGEU getting honed, rings, new bearings, head shaved, port matched, 4 angle valve grind and some lumpier cams to compliment the extractors with freshly rebuilt twin 40mm Mikuni-Solex side-draughts to replace the EFI. It's going in late June (fingers crossed!).
Planed mods are basically a W50 (might save a few bucks gas...) a diff conversion and to fix annoying noise from left rear wheel! Anyone who's seen/been in it knows how mint the interior is, can't beat granny cars I guess

Mate with those wheels on it the car looks beautifull! It just goes to show that you don't need a lot of dollars to make the old toyotas look a million bucks.

Heh... Yea, I priced the project the other day, some things have been a steal some thing have cost a fair whack, not too bad considering I've had to leave most of the mechanical stuff to the professionals.
(prices are in $NZ, heh basically the same as $AU)
Wheels $330
Tires $600
Suspension $600
Motor/carbs $500
Exhaust $600
Parts for motor $400
Alarm/tints $1000
Stereo/interior $300
Seatbelts $350
Total $4500 approx.
Still to pay for the rebuild ($1500ish) so yea, will be around $6000 all up, expensive for what the car cost/was worth, but I'm happy with it, and will be much happier when the RG is in!

My clock didn't work, which was fine, because I have (had ) a watch and a cellphone. Then one magical day I heard a ticking noise when I was parked up. Lo and behold it had started to work! But it was losing 10 minutes a day. This was worse than it not going! Luckily my mate at Repco showed me this awesome tacho that hard everything I wanted, decent construction, not monster size tacho with an internal (and external) shift light that only cost $50 on staff.
To actually answer your question I had to disassemble the dash, take out the pointy bit of perspex, unscrew lots of screws from the clock mechanism, cut A LITTLE off the green backing to the instruments and slot the tacho in, toight as a tiger. No it wasn't hard with the workshop manual and my cousin, neither of us are overly mechanically inclined. I am good at taking shit apart and fixing it back up though. Should be a piece of piss!
