Dish conversions?

Is it possible to change the dish on a 2 or 3 pc wheel??
ie. unbolt it from the outer rim and onto a custom made one or a different one or something?
Can any wheel and tyre joint do it or would i need to go to an actual engineer?

professional wheel shops will be able to do it (not your typical bling bling chromies one). I don't know of any in melb, but don't expect it to be cheap. unless you want a wider wheel as well, to change the dish you will need a new inner and outer... so all you're really keeping is the centre piece.

keeping in mind that would be changing the offset of the wheel alot... I was thiking about getting two of my 3-piece wheels made thinner as to clear the front suspension on my car... was going to cost about 350 each in sydney.. (can't remember how much exactly - but certainly wouldn't be cost effective for 4 for teh dishh).

It was popular to get longchamp xr4 inners and bolt them to lips from SSR mesh's for good dish/lip.
But these wheels were from the same manufacturer with the same bolt spacing.

i keep forgetting the same of that awesome super duper wheel shop in sydney who does this stuff.... because i was thinking of dropping in to discuss options of losing 10-25mm of dish from the rear of the crown wheels, or possibly offset changing the rims to make them a little less negative (they are around 35mm more negative on the back!)
Who is this wheel shop!?!?
Otherwise, i will remain the Dish Master and you will all bow down to me.

your pathetic snorer could not possibly handle the power of the dish.
I am only looking at a possible solution to the problem there where the wheel doesnt entirely fit within the guard. Light flaring is another option, but i dont want to ruin my beautiful paintwork!!

Karl: you mean http://www.nealewheels.com.au/ ? they do loads of cutsom work with wheels... nice guys too.
Just get a bit machined off the mounting face of your rims, that'll bring your offset up a bit (depending on how much clearance you have back there)

thanks Greg. I'll do some clearnance checks and see how much could be taken off the mounting face... however i dont like the idea of taking too much off because of the way wheels work and their design to maintain strength.

well, with 3-piece rims (like my simmons) they just start off with a BIG centrepiece and machine down the mounting face until it's at the offset you asked for... so depending on how much you have left (probably not a huge amount considering your dish) it may be a possibility. Neale will know what to do with it.
