Seat Belt Bolts Sat, 30 November 2002 19:54 Go to next message
Does anyone know how to get out seat belt bolts without drilling or cutting them out? I have been trying to get the damn things out but I can't get them to budge. I want to get new belts for my 73 Celica ST but the bolts are round so I can't use a socket and breaker bar. They are slotted for a large Phillips head screw driver but how do I get a screwdriver to exert enough torque to break them loose? Any tip? Please? Confused

Try an impact driver to loosen then initially, if they are the ones in the floor have a look from underneath to see if theres any rust on the bolt and give it a quick touch up with a wire brush.

I had to get a small round tube welded to mine so I could fit a breaker bar into it and unscrew them that way! Worked very well!

you could get a large phillips head driver with a square shaft and put a shifter or spanner on it to give you more torque.
