- blow torch it hot, let it cool, and try and crack it
- angle grind flats onto the sides of it and use a big shifting spanner
- take it to a garage with an innocent smile, get a fixed quote for em to change the oil, and let them worry about it. if they have troubles etting it off, and it takes em 3 hours, doesnt matter, you got a fixed quote and can argue with em...
cheers

talking about "fixed quote" I've been to a mechanic who gave me quote on a job, and then come back to charge me WAY more ($200+) and his excuse was "it took more time then he thought" because he couldn't get the old bushing out! He had my mobile number and I told him to ring if there's any problem and he didn't! So what is the main point of a quote? I NEVER went back again, so I hope he understands his greed actually costed him more than what he made, and I wish these people all go bankrupt!
anyway back to the thread, I remember someone suggested welding a bigger / huge bolt to the sump plug, and work off that bolt instead, and make sure you undo it anti-clockwise as suggested..

I would have to agree with grega that would be the best way to go about taking the sump plug off... i had the same problem before and what i did was got it up on a hoist and then got mulit gripsa and got it that way but the welding is the most best way that i know of... good luck Brad
