Exhaust problems
Mon, 02 December 2002 01:50
Hey all,
need a bit of help. I have had a 2" cat back exhaust for a few months now, but I keep hearing this putting, almost backfiring sound fairly occasionally. Particularly when changing up a gear when revving the engine fairly hard (like pulling out or mainly taking off).
Am I losing back pressure? Wouldn't think so as I've seen AE92s with 2.5" exhaust no problems.
My other guess is a manifold leak. What do you guys reckon?

I'm not an expert on this but my brother has had some big problems with his exhaust lately on his KE70. He had a leak in his manifold gasket and his car made an awful noise, a lot like a deflating balloon. They've put a few new gasket's on it but the last time they put some sort of exhaust cement on it. It's really quiet now and get's an extra 200km to a tank of petrol.
I have what seems to be back presure problems with my 2" exhaust. I was told that it could be the mufflers. I've got a hotdog and a strait through muffler.
