My instruments not working

Hi guys
well firstly i'm after some advice regarding my tacho...
it never worked from when i bought my car... i got no idea if its just a wiring or sensor problem... or if the whole tacho is just stuffed... what can i do to fix it??
i'm hoping to fix it myself with my mate and sum guidance from my fellow toymodders(U GUYS~!!)...
also... just recently the oil and water temp gauges stopped working... would the fact that i installed a new head unit and changed the oil be a contributing reason why??
wtf is wrong with my car~~!~!~!

Have you checked all the fuses? Sounds obvious but can often be the cause.

imo, the oil and temp gauges aren't as accurate anyways so i wouldn't rely on them, well that's just me!
have you checked the plug for the tacho is actually connected? lol highly unlikely, but shit happens!
if thhat's so, your fuses!
if not, i've got one in here for sale! not sure if the speedo works anymore because i lent my mate it to try it on his ke70 and he opened it up

does checking if the tacho is connected involve taking out the dash???
yeah... all the instruments seem to suck on my car...
fuel gauge moves around alot... sumtimes only shows as 3/4 full when i'm sure i've completely filled the tank... oh wells..
that doesn't worry me much tho...
i'm more concerned about the tacho coz i wanna know how hard i'm driving my car...
and the oil and temp gauges so my car dun blow up.. hahah

Doesn't involve taking out the dash, involves taking out the shroud that has the light switches and stuff
just take out all the screws neccessary using a 10mm(you might have to take the driver's speaker out from what i remember?
pull out your light and wiper switch, in each of these should be a thin nut, i think the size is 17-19mm? their not tough but i had trouble doing it with my hands. just use the socket, no need for the ratched or anything.
when you got all the surrounding screws out and the two thin nuts in the wiper and light, and it can move freely, lower your steering wheel and take it. becareful, you CAN snap the top of the shroud as it's long, but i just pushed it down and used abit of force. some people recommend to take the steering wheel out, but i couldn't even do that when i was changing my instrumental cluster so i threw that idea out. just make sure it's not on a really cold day that your doing this
after you take the piece out, you should see your cluster as a whole.
4 screws hold it, and there's 2 plugs connected at the bottom for the tacho and speedo.
EDIT: OH YEH, when you take it out, BE VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY careful pulling it out. don't just jiggle it and rip it out, because the speedo's connected to the speedo cable, and in that cable is this little twig that's suppose to be shoved directly in the speedo hole of your cluster, i didn't know this.
I just jiggled and ripped mine out, and i heard a snap. didn't know until i put EVERYTHING back together.
i didn't replace the speedo cable, somehow i could extend that little twig and it worked fine.
if you do some how fuck it up and not as lucky as i was, i think you have to change the hole thing. which is a bitch.

yeah i read taking the steering wheel out can be hardwork...
sumthing i'll eventually have to do in 2wks when i get my boss kit for my new steering wheel... so i guess i'll just take it out and have a look then... hopefully its just the fuse blown or the tacho connected being unplugged tho.. i'll keep in touch if i have further probs after that.
a bit off the topic tho...
if i was the get the 20 valve conversion done i'll need a different tacho right?? coz the redline's different etc..
are there ppl that integrate a suitable tacho face to their stock instrument cluster??? can that be done??
i just don't like the look of mounting a monster tacho on top of the steering wheel column.
