USB/MP3 player malfunction Sun, 12 June 2005 04:16 Go to next message
Hey guys/girls

i have a USB memory stick that plays mp3's
the other day i put it in to load songs onto it, whilst loading a few songs that would take around 3mins, i pressed play on the USB and after windows came up with a dialog saying that my USB has malfunctioned.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

It says replace the USB to fix it, is this really the only way?

Whenever i put that USB into my computer, it doesnt recognise it, but if i put my other USB in it does.

Any help appreciated
Cheers
Choony

i don't know, but... do you just rip out the usb whenever you put it in the comp when it was working?

my friend lost all his data in the week his assignment was due (assignment was on the usb) due to him not taking it out properly.

mmm different kind of tech que to the usual LOL

what OS?

if it's XP have a look in your notifications next to the clock - there should be one with a lil green arrow called safely remove hardware. use that and hit 'stop' for whatever usb device it is. best practise with usb is to stop a device before yanking it just to be sure..

give that a try and let us know how you go Smile

Cheers

lol
everyones thinking im a noob Razz

Nah everyone i know how to unplug a USB safely because i use it almost everyday for homework transfer from home to TAFE.

My USB malfunctioned when i was playing with the usb WHILE transferring files at that moment in time.
SO somehow while i tried to press play on my usb for a song that was still transferring, it malfunctioned Confused

Running windows XP

Now when i plus my usb into my computer, it doesnt recognize it, just, 'unknown hardware'.
i didnt have to install it when i first bought it so i dont think i'll have to reinstall it, nothin to reinstall.

Nevermind guys i think my usb is rooted, i just tried turning it on and instead of its usual "Welcome" it says "WILKOMMEN" Confused

RIP my usb. along with the 30 songs i put on u! Mad

if windows would recognise it then it would be as imple as formatting it.

but it sounds like the firmware has been buggered. try contacting the manufacturer for new firmware.
