1998 Camry Antenna Won't Go Up Thu, 16 June 2005 02:05 Go to next message
1998 Camry Conquest
MCV20R V6

The antenna won't go up when I put the radio on, it doesnt make any noise at all. Cos if there's a noise then its the mast that needs replacing.

Do these cars have a relay or fuse for the antenna?

I had a look on the kickpanel's fuse box and there's no fuse for the antenna there.

Advice please

thanks

just get a multi meter and check that there is power getting to the motor. if not just replace it with factory or aftermarket one, you could snap it and get a metal coat-hanger for the, i dont care look. the only trouble is it creats more drag,so when you cruising at 280km/h it might get a bit noisey and cost you .001 of a km/h.

Do what kibgmick said with the multi. If power is there the motor may be burnt out. Go buy an Aerpro one.

Bust it off, start with a shiny new coathanger, and attempt to bend it in the shape of Australia. Thing is, Tassie's a bugger to include if you don't have a soldering iron Laughing (for some reason, my mother took a dislike when I did this to her Commodore?)

Mr. Razor,

Do you have the Camry Owners Manual (supplied with the new car)?

Page 222 says there are 2 fuses for Audio system/power antenna.

1 (Fuse no. 14)is in the Engine Compartment Fuse Box (the long black cover between battery and guard)

and 1 (Fuse no. 36)is in the Fuse Compartment to the right of and below the steering wheel.

Check them both !

Hope this helps.

Cheers
T.
