RA 40 Bonnets? Tue, 03 December 2002 02:20 Go to next message
Ok does anyone know if a bonnet from a later model ra40 will fit on an ealier model ra40?
The later models don't dip down at the front and if they fit will allow me to get more airflow into my intercooler.
On the same topic kinda - anybody know where to get fibreglass or carbonfibre hoods from in brisbane????
I know A VERY long shot.

Brett.

This is just a guess so it's probably wrong. The earlier model RA40's have the round lights?!
I've got one with the square lights, it's always puzzeled me!

Yep round headlights
The middle of the bonnet between the healights curves down about 2-3 inches whereas the later model(square headlights) doesn't.
I think the square headlight version is actually an RA41 but don't quote me on that.

your main trouble will be latch mechanism, go to a pick-a-part and compare the 2 models..

ok I just compaed the two and it looks like it could work if you swapped the front grill and the bracket the hold the grill. but it might look abit strange.

It might just be better to go the complete front end change?
Would i have any problems with doing that?
Are the bumpers different?

Personally i don't think it would be worth while changing the entire front end over. Just from looking at the cars the front quarters are different aswell as the park lamps, head lights, and grill, the RA40b bumpers are also plastic instead of chrome so if you were to change the front you would need to change the back aswell to match. Brackets could well be different on the 2 models which would create more problems. Unless you have an RA40b wreck already this would all probably cost more than it's worth.
