Put JDM ecu on AUS 4AGE-rev limiter came down to 7k? Fri, 17 June 2005 08:00 Go to next message
Found a JDM ecu for cheap so I decided to put it in for the increase in redline and so I can advance my timing more than with the AUS one.
I was told that the reason it bought the rev limiter down to 7k from 7.3k instead of up to 7.8 is that there is no speed sensor from the AUS dash.
I was just wondering if anyone else on here had any experince with running a JDM ecu on an AUS GE and what you have done to fix the problem.
Is it possible to trick the speed sensor somehow, or to install one, or am I going to have to track down a JDM dash?
Any help and info is much appreciated.
Thanks heaps.

AFAIK All Toyota dash's (since 80's) have speed sensor output.
Its a 4pulse per rev, and I think its green with a blue stripe (or blue with a green stripe)

Analogue dash does have a speed sensor, its pin n#7,

http://toymods.org.au/Repository/TechDocs/ae86_boo k/body_elec/untitled_scanned_23.jpg

Try that?

Its either "_scanned_23.jpeg" or "_scanned_22.jpeg"

I think the "_scanned_22.jpeg" is for the USA market, bloody left hand drivers.

Hope it helps.

My 4ag rwd bluetop red line's at 7350rpm without speed sensor.

Have'nt found the right pin on the back of the digital cluster yet, been too lazy, but the check engine light is really starting to piss me off.

Cheers

Steve

How much for this contraption if i may ask sideshow, what sort of wiring is needed to connect it properly.

Cheers
