I'm going to cry
V8 DOHC 4.7L (borrowed or tuned Lexus engine)
6 speed manual/8 speed auto
How much is an SLK350? It's slightly cheaper.

It was saying that Toyota had made a partnership with the Yoo or You F1 team. I've never heard of it. Hmm.. but I have to wake up in 2 hours and my eyes are blurry. Stupid small print. I shall try my best to understand more tomorrow

So its not a 1JZ/2JZ... who cares, as long as its as fast and as easy to tweak.
You do know that Lexus = Toyota right?
Itll probably be the 3UZ-FE.
And whats wrong with a 6sp manual or 8sp (!!!) auto?
IMHO it doesnt look too bad either.

Nothing's wrong with a 6sp manual or 8sp auto and I know Lexus = Toyota.
It isn't the 3UZ-FE, it's called something else but I can't remember the name/too tired to look.
I don't like it because it's lost its sleekness. IMHO the new designs make it look like a fatty (in a bad way) and in the yellow pic the rear lights look commodore-ish! It will be fast and easy to tweak but there's just something sexy about producing more power with less displacement.

Wow if that's the new supra the new supra is awesome!
but that can't be right, 390ps and 1250 kilos?
that's absolutely insane.
not sleek? you must be looking at a different picture.
that'd probably actually be economic too on freeway drives

yep, ill believe it when i see something more official...
mind you, i don't mind the yellow one, but i don't like the rear end, looks a bit too much like a merc...
call me mad, but, the close-eyed version has finally grown on me... and i like the idea of having a 2000gt and 4000gt model...
and i think the general body shape of the 4000gt looks better than the yellow one, but, i do like the yellow front....
and 390ps... is that equivalent to 390kw or hp? roughly?

Can u post up a link? The last pic I saw is the 350z styling with the skyline tail lights still in tact.
I have to admit it's (supra) is really starting to grow on me

I don't mind it too much, its got a huge chunky body. Whats with the Gallardo wheels though!? They look great on the Lambo's but out of place on the Supra.

It's set for a 2007 release (also when they were planning to introduce some kind of turbocharged camry/corolla - i guess that'll be the sportivo coupe) so nothing's set in stone.

/me thinks it looks pretty ordinary... atleast in some pics... and damn those tail lights look familiar.... oh wait, VY commodore...
one of the concept sketches looked hot, and the pic of the white one, but some pics were downright ugly... but then again, i wasn't exactly fussed about the 350Z at it's release, but now i want one

sad thing is, that contradicts the 4.6litre V8 article... the 4uz-ge seems to only be a 4litre....
but, it'd be a sad day toyota stick an "f" series head in their flagship sports car
i'm hoping for the close-eyed one. i like it now, actually.

That little snippet proves the whole thing is fake.
'G' series heads are dead. Toyota have stopped producing heads with Yamaha. All heads now on will the 'F'
As point out above, I'll believe this when Toyota OFFICIALLY release something.
So can everyone do us all a favour and put their dicks back in their pants

So they are not making the 2ZZ-GE's anymore?
I always though the 'G' meant wide angle twincam... not the fact that is was designed by Yamaha.

Most people know a auto is bigger than a manual...
So an 8 speed auto would be huge, not to mention the cost to overhaul it, if it blows up. I have heard of 6speed merc's but i don't think that an 8 speed is possible unless it has a overdrive at the rear of the case. I.E a normal 4 speed plus rear overdrive equals 8, that would mean a 2 speed reverse.
I think 8 gears is 3 too many in an auto. But we will wait and see.
Cheers
Andrew..

very ferrari-esque
still nice, imagine an 8 throttle 4UZGE revving to 8000rpm, nice
390ps is approx 280-290kw+
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm 19 inch rims
the jazz had a CVT i thought

So you wouldnt buy it just beacuse it had narrow angle DOHC?
Narrow angle heads can actually be better for performance than wide angle.
It would also be very difficult to fit wide angle DOHC cam heads on a V8.

'G' means wide angle yes, but all 'G's were designed by Yamaha.
Obviously they will make more 2ZZ-GE's but the next generation onwards will all be FE heads.
Daemon wrote on Sun, 19 June 2005 09:39 | The 2ZZGE is not dead, they have signed a deal with Lotus to supply them for the Elise. They also have emissions passed for them in the US, so why stop using them?

Nissan have been using 8 speed auto's in the latest Skyline for a few years now.
