I just didn't know 86's had upper traction bars towards the centre of the diff.
I thought they were directly above the lower ones.

Good news, the exact same thing happened to me when I was traveling on the gateway motor way in peak hour traffic. Gheyest moment of my life, but mine came out easy with an easy out. The thing that got me home was a self tapping screw I found in my car.
