Any Idea on what fits in for a 88 celica, I am not sure exactly what Super Bright White model to get off ebay, H1, H2, H3, etc, and is it simply a plug and play with the original bulbs..
Thanks

as Yian said H4, 55/60w bulbs, you can get those copy HID bulbs that have those pre xenon gased bulbs to give you that HID/Xenon effect (white/blue light) slightly brighter then your average yellowish ones, not sure on its life, probably half the amount of standard?

Any marketing tripe using 'halogen' in the same sentence as 'HID' or 'Xenon' is garbage.
Don't waste your money on those 'super white' H4 bulbs.
HID conversion. 'Nuf said.

Agreed - I've never had a lot of excitement from 'upgrade' headlight bulbs, but then others have raved about them. I find it's often more effective to fix up tired wiring to get rid of voltage drop, and if the headlight innards are stuffed, well, they're stuffed, and need something done about them.

if you have the money for a hid conversion go for it, if not check the reflectors and if they aren't reflecting any more these are a good place to stark looking for more light. you can also get 55/100 bulbs( 55w low beam and 100w high beam) which i have and am very happy with. if you have old dodgy wiring you might want to check this first tho as you are using twice the amps that came out stock on your high beam. hope this helps.

Thanks for all the reply's, the main reason I want more light is that my highbeams only work when held on, and not when you flick them to on (this results in all lights off)
If I can just get a bit more light from my standards i'll be happy, as the mechanic said i would have to replace the whole steering/lights cluster and a quote for $250, which is more than i am willing to spend just to get the highbeams fixed...

Can you do the replacement yourself with second-hand parts?
Keep in mind that the low beam lights defract through the lenses towards the road, nor ahead into the distance to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers. This means that higher outpul low beams will just give you more light in the same places, not an equivilent effect to high beam lights.
High beam lights in a 55W/60W combination bulb are approximately the same intensity, just directed differently.
