SleekHer's RA28 - MISFIT - Sun, 19 June 2005 05:31 Go to next message
Orrite so i've been a member of this forum for over a year now, so its probably time to post some piccies of my beastie, so here she is.

After about a week and a half paint stripping...

http://img296.echo.cx/img296/867/p81300076fh.jpg

At the panel shop having new sills fitted, panels aligned, hatch reskin and geberal prep from painting

http://img188.echo.cx/img188/6942/p83100125tq.jpg

Car then when to Fibrevision in Perth to have the cortina front bar fitted courtesy of Canberra Car Styling

http://img110.echo.cx/img110/1351/pa1600272pr.jpg

To the paint shop we go!!!

http://img154.echo.cx/img154/7074/pb0200026ok.jpg

And out of the paint shop we go

http://img155.echo.cx/img155/4898/pb1200054zg.jpg

In goes the 18RG powerhouse ;P

http://img9.echo.cx/img9/5243/p20100286jx.jpg

Starting to look more like its spose to

http://img31.echo.cx/img31/2195/p21100370de.jpg

Chuck on some rims and bobs your uncle

http://img296.echo.cx/img296/4295/p21900635hk.jpg

Non-standard bitties

*AU falcon indicators
*TD Cortina modified fromt bar
*17X7 Peformance Tempest rims
*Colour is Ford sapphire purple pearl
*Whiteline front sway bar
*Full custom interior retrim and stereo

Motor has a bit of work done, 45mm Webers side drafts, high comp pistons, cams etc... extractors...

and the car as it stands today, hundreds of hours and thousands of $$ later with the second money pit...

http://img152.echo.cx/img152/8646/p71800374my.jpg
http://img300.echo.cx/img300/9042/p20300245wo.jpg

Enjoy.

beautiful..a top effort from start to finish..

if i could say one thing which is my opinion and no one needs to agree, but i think it needs to be lowered a little bit or 16inch rims insted of the 17s..but thats just wat i think..looks gorgeous tho..well done

Very Happy

love the car... looks awesome...

but i feel i just have to add my 2 cents...

front spolier is to square in my opinion, the celica is a curvy shape... (thought it's miles better then anything i've got)

car appears to sit taller then i'd have it... and rims are bigger... imo, these look better with 15ish rims, and larger profile (althought i'll be going 16's and lower profile...)

got any pics of the interior?

don't panic dude, i'm not knocking your car... i'm heaps jealous... just my opinion...

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.

Ok
Mr DOHC
The motor woz bort as is out of a race triumph, so exact specs are a little sketchy, car has been dynoed at 106hp which i did find disappointing, although the 45mm webers are a bit big. I do have a set of 40mm so I will put them on and see how we go.

Beserker99
The answer to your question is yes.. Razz a few not so perfect patches but all in all i was thrilled with the work, and for the price, its awesome.

HAHAHA Rainey............... no Cool

hickoz_bro
in regards to the spoiler, alot of thort went into this and i tried to find something that wood most suit the car, so opted for something around the same era... i tell no theres really not alot around. As far as the lowering goes... its a topic of heated conversation atm, outcome is yes it will be lowered more, just how much more i do not no. And rims well i considered nice deep-dish 15'z for ages, but these popped up and i coodn't resist. and last of all i'm a chick.. not a dude kewl Very Happy

More pics will be added soon, got pics stored on two computers and don't have access to that one atm....

oh and dimmy.... big thumbs up to the avatar!!!!

Hey BOCKA, Cortina front bar is from Canberra Car Styling.. fitting it I have no idea besides they chopped about a foot out of the middle, i left that bit to the experts.

MR DOHC
the 18RG makes max power at 6600rpm, through a 2.25 inch exhaust, had it at just ova 7000 down the quarter, but it bogs down to hard at launch, even with a decent amount of revs on board.

and now as requests interior pics... front seats are from an 84 supra, rears are standard

http://img206.echo.cx/img206/9500/p11400012rc.jpg

and i thort i mite chuck in a earlyish one of the project...
paint stripping is such a joy Razz

I think everyone prefers the deep dish 15's because they give the muscle look, and the they suit the age of the car more so Rolling Eyes

Anyway, im tossing up between 16" and 17"

Thanx for telling me where i can find the photo's!

Thought I best add my thoughts on this car and it's build up;

There are one or two parts from my shed included in this build.

I'm happy this build has delveloped into a clean, neat street car.

I'm not convinced 17's will ever look any good on an RA28, but this goes close.

There is a shit hot white RA28 currently residing in Adelaide - you don't need any more in this thread!!!

Adelaide has a shit hot fine art gallery.

Adelaide reminds me of Perth - and for that I rspect and like it!

The car turned one or three heads during the dyno day outing - well done!

I like this build - the folk, just starting out on an RA28 build should follow and develop from this point, their own cars.

good work Loz - all you have to do now is convince Matty to get rid of the winged warrior Supra!

awsome car. the contina bar looks great. one question though, how do you get the guards off? in the pics, the cortina bar apears to be attatched to both guards. is there a split in the centre? or does the whole lot come off as one?

Finally i found the owner of this car...and on toymods Very Happy , that car is a true inspiration, i can see a lot of blood sweat and tears have gone into the build of The HOTTEST/CRAZIEST/BEST Ra28 Cool .

Hypothetically speaking if you were to sell it, what would be your price?.

Soo cool, soo eye catching, such great body work..
but thats enough about Lauren.. Wink

This Celica is the BOMB people!
It looks as good as the pictures suggest. I'm honoured to be associated with one of the best RA28's in Australia.
I love everything that LJ has done to this car - from the custom front air dam to the 17inch wheels.. It all comes together so well when you see it.
Can't help but smile everytime I see this car! Very Happy Absolutely love it!

For you MISFIT fans - here's another pic I took at the OST Dyno Day

Was lucky enough to see this car in person when I was over in Perth.

I reckon it pulls off the 17's really well. I'm not a fan of 16's and 17's on old school celicas. BigWorms 23 had me starting to think differently, however MISFIT blew me out of the water it looks really good. They really suit the car.

The front bar suits the car really really well and gives me a little bit of inspiration for my car.

As Clint said it turned my head, i thought it was one of the tuffest cars in the car park at the Perth dyno day.

It seemed weird to me I picked the spot where the first GT4 and 28 pic was taken it starts with C and is up the coast from Free'o isn't it. I remeber Matt Clint and I had a beer across the road in the pub.

Keep up the good work and good luck with the JZA61. I hope you still own the celica when I get my arse back over to Perth in the Wagon.

Stitt
