i found a blacktop 20v manual in techdocs <--- and there pretty much the same motor as silvertop so i'm just using it as a guide

coventry auto parts sell a bottom end gasket kit for bout $89 from headgasket down and rings are the same as 100kw series 2 with a thinner top ring and same bearings as 100kw u can go genuine but real dear...

Speak to emmac in these forums, he supplied me a 4AGE 20v timing belt, exhaust manifold gasket, and rear main crank seal. All at a very reasonable price and delivery was fast too.

Give him a PM on what u need

EXACTLY the same. the only difference is the air intake system between the two engines.

if anyone rebuilds one of these, DO NOT pull apart the vvti actuator on the intake cam!!! SOOOOO hard to get back together... Razz

Yeah don't suppose you took any photos did you? I was wondering if they were at all serviceable after they started to tick.

G'Day Sam & Julian
I'Ve cut up a VVT pulley to have a look at & see how it all worked & it is an absolute work of art inside. Very simple & very clever.
There is nothing serviceable about the pulley. When you see how it all works inside it's very easy to see why they can rattle a bit , & you would not be at all concerned if it did. Send me your e-mail adresses & I'll take some pics. for you.

Steve
Buggered if I know how you thought you could possibly pull it apart & put it back together again. Even more amazed that you did.

i had a spare one lying around...so it didn't overly bother me if i couldn't get it back together, but with a little help from a Master Technician at the Toyota dealership where i used to work, it wasn't that bad really Razz
