ta22 odd noise. Sun, 19 June 2005 11:13 Go to next message
Hey,
There's a strange sound that appears to be coming from the right rear end(Although sound does travel-def back end noise!) that begins as a slight clunk(?) that turns into a high pitch humm around the 40-50km mark. When I touch the brake the sound dissapears, when I release it...It returns. Any ideas. A diff bearing maybe? Wheel bearing? How can I test this to find the cause and then solve? The Uni joints are apparently ok - It passed a scrupilous roadyworthy. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated before I start pulling stuff to bits.

One of the shoes in the drum is probably rubbing... pull the wheel off, and spin the drum to find out, you'll feel it rubbing. Adjust as necessary.
