3TG and 3T-GTEU head gasket (same thing?) Mon, 20 June 2005 08:03 Go to next message
Im trying to find a metal head gasket for my 3t-gteu.

Ive been searchin aussie websites trying to find gaskets for a 3tgteu but have only been able to find them advertised as 2TG/3TG.

Just wanted experienced advise on whether these gaskets are the sasme thing or interchangable. Do the have the same plubming in the block and head etc.

Also any advise on places in Brisbane / Australia that i could get a metal head gasket.

I have only been to toyota spare parts so far.
Toyota wants to charge me $352 for a genuine toyta 3tgteu VRS kit from japan.

Firstly I would like to know if they are interchangable to avoid havin to order internationally.

headgaskets are the same.

bottom end gasket kits are the same.

VRS is different cause the inlet manifold and possibly valvestem seals are different.

Thanks pheonix83,

I know the VRS kits will be different, i just thought i would do the lot while i had head off and was ordering from japan.

So definately no issues with plumbing of oil and water between the head and the block if i use and standard 3tg gasket?

Thanks setsuna

I gave those guys a call today and ordered a 2mm Gasket.
With sealant and postage it was $150 delivered to brissy.
he will make it tommorowa and post it straight away. You cant beat that for service. Sure beats a 3 week wait from japan for hks gaskets, and a whole lot cheaper.

To clarify my own question, the 3tg and 3tgte have slightly different gasket.

The 3tg gasket has 8 holes where the pushrods were and the 3tgte gasket only has 4.

Which means the more common 3tg/2tg gaskets are still interchangable onto the 3tgte as the extra holes simply wont be used.

damn right.
those guys disurve your business.
it was the same for me (great service)

I was waiting on a shop over here (%$@%%chris anythingotherthanchevpushrodsandwedontknowanything mills) took a month of 'yes waiting on materials the copper blah blah.. it will be soon' before giving up on them.

called ridgecrest, and those guys and had it made, shipped and at my door in a few days! Smiley =

what sealant did they suggest/sell you?
I used some sealant used to glue copper gaskets onto motorbike engines. weird white stringy goo that suuure looked like it would do the job.
