Hi

i just blown my head gasket and mechanic said it needs machining.
(250 bucks)!!!

While im on it...I heard that 4k with 3k head goes a lot better.
Now ,is it better to machine the original 4k head or
just go to the wrecker and find a stock 3K head & put it in.

what needs to be done when swapping 3k head into 4kc engine?

and yah,what 3K model should I look out for? Shocked

please say you've searched...

it does not go "a lot better" far from it. it does provide something for free, but it has been said enough times...
it's even on my webpage...... in detail!!!

for you, any 3K model will be fine.

seen your engine and mine is nothing like yours...just a daily driven.

so should I just change to a stock 3k head into stock 4k block?

mine has always beeen daily driven.. is very nice to drive Wink

i also did it all in stages... first stage was just a plain 3K head onto 4K block (not a bigport) difference was a little noticable.. jaycar HEI was probably more noticable

for a stocker, exhaust porting is better than intake porting imho.

hint: search for "oldcorollas" Wink
