Hi
Just wondering about a sway bar for the front of my ae86. Who makes a good one ? what should i expect to pay ? And what is the optimum size? I have stock 13 inch wheels which will be replaced for possibly 16 inch soon. Also lowered slightly, new shocks and springs. Still has fair bit of body roll and feels very unstable round bends over 80-90. Though the last thing i want is understeer.

Cheers! Will.

Also, can somebody tell me about adjustable panhard rods please?
past what point of lowering a small car like this are they necessary? Is there a rule of thumb?

Thanx

do u mean it is lowered or is going to be lowered.
if not lowering it will make a hell of a difference with the stiffer spring rates u will use.
if so getting 16" instead of 13" will make it stiffer as well.
but get everything how u want it and then finetune it.
re-bush everything, it doesnt cost too much and u will notice a difference there as well

Yea its lowered about 50mm and has new shocks with king springs. is an adjustable panhard rod necessary? If i put a stiffer sway bar on the front now with 13s will everything be to harsh when i get 16 inch wheels down the track?
Also (hate to ask to many questions aye)does anyone know much about camber and castor adjustments/kits for an ae86 and if so the pros and cons for street use

Cheers

Talk to whiteline, they make adjustable panhard rod and swaybars, I use them and I'm happy with them.

Please do not be offended - I do think you'r car will not behave well with a stiffer sway bar.

With 50mm lowered suspension your control/trailing arm geometries are busted.

If you insist on having that much lowered suspension, have a close look at TRD prepped (or any other serious racing team) cars for properly executed arrangement.
In a nutshell; have your control/trailing arm angles restored to what they used to be while maintaining 50mm lowered suspension. Then car will behave well.

A question of present setup; you haven't encountered loss of traction at rear wheels (when accelerating hard) after lowering by any chance?
Lowering messes up geometry in many ways, traction loss on rwd cars in driving wheels is one of them.

it's not irs at the bakc so if you lower it, it spits the diff out to out side the more you lower it, if it's like my celica your wheel on the pananger side will look like it is filling the guards more and the drivers side one wont look as bad,

Yeah shit yeah, I thought it was all to do with the cheaper tyres but when wet it slips out sideways very easily now, sometimes it's fun because you want it to. Though more scary and dangerous in traffic.A little More accurately it is prob. 35-40 mm lowered and the shock absorbers are koni adjustable dampers. What do most people do to get their sprinters handling well on the road? I assume 15-16 inch wheels would make a big differance, how do I go about correcting this geometry problem effectivly? I've been told everything underneath is in pretty good condition scince I got new radius rod bushes and rack ends.

Thanks Will
