Hi,

Has anyone made a short shift for ther AE92. I am talking about shorting the throw of the linkages not cutting the shifter sharft.
I have thourght about trying to modify the gearbox leavers but not sure.

Any thourghts,

Here's pic of my friends short shift. Car is actually EE80 but it's the same thing.

IIRC ball in the stick is separate. Hammer it off and reduce the diameter of the stick so that you can push the stick lover (or the ball higher on the stick). Diameter reducing can be done by lathe, file or by angle grinder. Don't take too much if using angle grinder.
Raise the whole stick assembly if needed. No need to raise that much as in the pic but my friend liked it better that way. This will only affect on longitudinal movement of the stick. Side to side movement will be the same.

I got one in my car that my dad made for it.

The shifter was cut but it was cut below the pivot (big ball) and lenghtened about 18mm. You can't lengten it too far or the bottom of the shifter hits the floor pan.

This reduced the throw by about 50%.

When I get around to putting my new stereo in I'll take some photos of it if you want.
