With enough money and skill anything is possible, but the question remains, WHY?
It will never been road registable not to mention the poor chassis, i can hear it know
The idea has merit but not logical.
Cheers

.. the Northstar MR2 guy is a longtime Megasquit forum(s) contributor.
...unless you ran a fibreglass body on a tube chassis you're not going to get a Noth-south engine insde the MR2 - and the 1UZ would have to be up front?
is there fwd transmission that you could bolt the 1UZ to anyway?
btw... did anyone look at the 3Sgte-into-MR2 install pics on the same site? any suggestions as to what the ignition setup is that they're using?

The guy who's car that is certainly thinks it can be done. It's going to run an electric water pump, direct fire ignition and drive the alternator off the back of one of the cams so it will have no pulleys on the front which makes the engine a hell of a lot shorter.
It's going to be bolted up to a E53 with an adaptor plate I believe.
The main problem I see with it is getting a decent set of headers onto it and building torque mounts that are tough enough to keep the engine still. My 3S punished the front torque mount in no time.

i think you would treat this like a VW - would be easier to remove engine from car, rather than work on it 'in situ'.

That my friend is the Electromotive TEC3 engine management system.
http://www.electromotive-inc.com/
I have talked to VVega about his Toyota V8 install. He is using a E53 trans with an adaptor plate. He has it all measured up and the science figured out. The engine should actually be in there tonight... or is that tomorrow for you guys .... hmmm...
Metric time... I am lost.

oops. I should have looked at the picture.
That is the old Electromotive HPV dizzyless ignition.
The computers are the Megasquirt.
I ended up using the complete TEC system and gave the megasquirt to my father for use in his Ford van. The TEC3 is a much better system
