This weekend Dad and I are going to be taking out my engine so I can get some Chassis damage fixed up.
Any tips or things i should know when taking the GE out??
Do the drive axles pull straight out??
It is easier to get the engine and gearbox out as one unit.
You dont have to pull the drive shatfs out of the gear box. The inboard joints have 6 bolts each. Undo these, leave the drive shafts in the car, and the ends in the gearbox. no oil leaks then!
Mark EVERYTHING!!! Obvious i know, but the times ive thought, "i'll remember that one easy..." and then forgotten....
Roll or 2 of masking tape, and a black texta.
Take the bonet off. I dont know why some people try to leave it on. Much easier with it off.
You should be able to drain the coolant from a tap on the bottom of the radiator. Much leass mess doing it that way.
Be methodical, and you shouldnt have a problem getting it back in.
