having never set up a bov before - i need a little help
the vaccum line off the top of the bov ( in my case turbosmart plumbback ) has to be tapped into the intlet plenum
Is it best to use a dedicated line for it - or can the vaccum be tapped off off another vaccum line off the plenum ..I have a small dedicated one at the back of the plenum - though at a guess the pipe diameter seems larger than the one on the bov. I probnably could reduce it but not sure which way to head?
Many people do tap them into an existing line. BUT, I have previously had a BOV tapped into the boost gauge line and it made the boost gauge flicker spastically when the BOV was opening and closing so I thought it may actually not be a good idea to have the vaccuum line for the BOV plumb into anything that needs to read an accurate boost/vaccuum.
The golden rule though is to keep the line as short as you can (being practical about it of course).
I would use the dedicated point you mentioned at the back of the plenum and use a commonly available reducer
Cheers - jjst took the plug off the dedicated point - looks like toyota may have had this in mind for either map sensor ecu or BOV - just never got around to it ..
Another little mystery ive found on the gt4 with no logical explaination to be seen ( like why have clips under arches and along doors that just happen to be perfect for rear mounting the battery cables )
Seems like alot of these things for the rallycars may have filtered thru to the road goers
